Chelsea Yurkovich is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. She earned her Master of Science degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University (SMU), where she received specialty training in Play Therapy, Family Play Therapy, Activity Therapy, Group Therapy, and Addictions. To further her education, Chelsea is currently pursuing her Doctoral degree in Counseling at the University of North Texas. Through her doctoral work, Chelsea is achieving additional experience serving clients, educating future counselors, conducting and presenting research to further the field. Her education and experience include working with children, adolescents, teens, college-aged students, parents, and adults dealing with various mental health concerns at SMU’s Center for Family Counseling, SMU’s Center for Family Counseling in Frisco ISD, Frisco’s Student Opportunity Center, The Counseling and Human Development Center on the UNT campus, and The Child and Family Resource Clinic on the UNT campus. In addition to seeing clients at The Counseling and Human Development Center, Chelsea held the role of assistant director of the clinic for two years while providing guidance and support for counseling interns.

Chelsea believes counseling is a helping hand when life simply becomes too difficult to handle alone. She emphasizes the importance of a trusting therapeutic relationship with each and every client in order to produce healthy growth and change. Her passion lies in working with children, adolescents, and families in a safe, non-judgmental environment where she strives to ensure warmth and acceptance for all.

Chelsea graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Addictive Diseases and Recovery Studies. When not at work or working on her dissertation, Chelsea loves spending time with family, especially her niece and nephew, and has a big heart for animals.
